It’s 3:00 in the afternoon. Lunch was a long time ago, dinner is hours away.

You are hungry NOW!

The vending machine is looking mighty welcoming.

But everything in there has tons of Weight Watcher’s points and you just don’t have enough spare points 

Luckily, you are SMART! You are PREPARED! You are a CHAMPION!

You made some of delicious, filling zero-point Weight Watcher’s hummus-ish and brought it along. You also have some dippables: carrot sticks (for a completely 0 point snack), Ace Mini Baguette Crisps (2-3 points for 8 of them), or even some Saltines  (2 points for 5 of them) stashed away in your desk. 

Zero Point Hummus-ish

Create this creamy, delicious and oh-so-decadent tasting hummus-like spread that will fool your friends and keep you on program! You won’t believe this is a zero-point recipe when you taste it. 

Ingredients

  • 1 can (19 ounces) chickpeas
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp ice-cold water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp plain, fat-free Greek yogurt
  1. Chop the garlic and add the lemon juice and let it sit for about 10 minutes. This will smooth out the harsh raw garlic while still allow a delicious garlicy flavour to imbue the hummus.
  2. Drain and rinse the chickpeas with ice-cold water. (For an even creamier, smoother hummus cook the canned chickpeas with the 1/2 tsp of baking soda in 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 20 minutes. Rinse in ice water and drain. This helps break down the chickpeas and their skins for an even smoother hummus),
  3. Combine the chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice and in a food processor and process until smooth. Then process some more, until super smooth.
  4. Add the yogurt and seasonings and process to combine. Serve immediately or refrigerate
